Dry Needling
A sterile, single-use, liquidless needle is pierced directly into the affected muscle or along that muscle's nerve distribution. The same type of needle is used in acupuncture, but acupuncture works with the philosophy of meridians and energy flows. Dry needling was inspired by traditional Chinese medicine but adopted by countless Western medicine doctors. It causes a micro lesion within the pathological tissue — breaking up shortened tissues, inhibiting the reflex arc from the nervous system, normalizing the inflammatory response, and centrally mediating pain.
