Meet the Doc

Dr. Katie Wesenberg

Dr. Katie Wesenberg, Doctor of Physical Therapy and founder of Flow Physio

Dr. Katie Wesenberg earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison before completing her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Southwest Baptist University. Throughout her education and clinical experience, she developed a passion for hands-on treatment and helping people move, feel, and perform at their best.

That passion led her to create Flow Physio—a myofascial release clinic focused on individualized care, movement optimization, pain relief, and recovery. By combining techniques such as dry needling, cupping, IASTM, assisted stretching, and manual therapy, Dr. Katie helps clients achieve lasting results and get back to doing what they love.

When she’s not in the clinic, Dr. Katie enjoys water sports, snowboarding, traveling, spending time with her husband, daughter, and family, and nerding out on the latest biohacking techniques and recovery tools.

Our approach

Focused hands-on care, every single visit.

We strive to create a positive impact each and every session, while working diligently to create a long-lasting solution. We'll listen to your concerns, thoughts, and goals and establish a plan of care together.

Our focus is on effective interventions you can't do on your own — not the things you can. A home exercise program will often be given, but sessions won't center on this unless requested. We won't keep doing interventions that don't work for you.

Services

Targeted manual techniques.

Dry Needling

01

Dry Needling

A sterile, single-use, liquidless needle is pierced directly into the affected muscle or along that muscle's nerve distribution. The same type of needle is used in acupuncture, but acupuncture works with the philosophy of meridians and energy flows. Dry needling was inspired by traditional Chinese medicine but adopted by countless Western medicine doctors. It causes a micro lesion within the pathological tissue — breaking up shortened tissues, inhibiting the reflex arc from the nervous system, normalizing the inflammatory response, and centrally mediating pain.

Cupping

02

Cupping

The suction created is thought to increase blood flow, release tension and knots, relieve pain, improve lymphatic drainage to reduce swelling, increase circulation, enhance recovery, and promote healing. Cupping decompresses or separates the layers of muscle and fascia to break up adhesions while simultaneously increasing local blood flow and oxygenation.

IASTM

03

IASTM

Think of it as ironing out a wrinkled shirt and fixing snags in a sweater. The shirt (your body) flows much better — less pain, better function — when it's wrinkle and snag free. Instrument-assisted soft-tissue mobilization restores smooth glide between layers of tissue.

Percussion Massage

04

Percussion Massage

The equipment matters, but so does the practitioner. Dr. Wesenberg is an expert at knowing exactly where to use the device, how to position you, and what proper dosage and intensity will create a positive change. You don't want more than the body can manage and heal on its own — we find the minimal effective dose.

Assisted Stretching

05

Assisted Stretching

Flow Physio uses proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) — the fastest and most effective way known to increase static flexibility. Have confidence knowing an experienced practitioner is manually stretching you. Just relax and let us do the work while you reap the benefits, resetting your nervous system and stretch reflex for more flexibility, function, and comfort.

Client stories

Real results from real people.

"
One word: INCREDIBLE! I was completely amazed how well I felt after my first session. She worked on my hip and IT band specifically, along with helping me find other areas I didn't even know were tight. A combination of stretching and the Theragun were used. After she finished, I stood up and walked a little… I have not been that pain free in probably 20 years!

"
About 6 months ago I started chiropractic care for lower back pain. My pain levels increased over time and I had to look at other options. A friend referred me to Flow Physio and Dr. Katie has been a game changer! In only 6–7 sessions, I feel like a new man. Dry needling, percussion massage and stretching is my remedy. Highly recommend!
Chad E.
"
I was a little hesitant to try the dry needling, but I had to try it with all of the success I've heard from friends. It was totally painless! I only felt a few twitches where my muscles were extremely tight. Highly recommend!

"
I have been recovering from an ACL, MCL, and meniscus tear, and I've been coming to see Dr. Katie. I've experienced a lot of success through assisted stretching, dry needling, cupping, and scraping. I always walk out feeling much better than I did walking in. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a different approach to healing!
